In January 2020, the Covid-19 epidemic sent us on a roller coaster of anxieties, hopes and despairs from which we have yet to recover. People’s ways of living and interacting to others have changed dramatically because of Covid. There are times when we all believe the pandemic was over, and other times when we appear to be starting over.
The purpose of these posters was to raise awareness among citizens in a lighthearted and fun way. Digital collages were created to combine the iconic photographs and artwork with Covid-19 scenarios, while the gradient represents the virus’s propagation.
The very first poster depicts the classic artwork “The Girl with the Pearl Earrings” she is wearing a mask and receiving a Covid-19 vaccine. This reflects the reality that we should all be vaccinated in order to keep ourselves secure and protected. The iconic photo of the Beatles crossing the street appears on the second poster. In this case, the text is center right in the middle of them, signifying how important it is to retain our distance from one another. The final poster demonstrates how an asymptomatic person can still spread the virus. In this scenario, the hands holding the antibacterial gel are from Michelangelo’s iconic masterpiece “The Creation of Adam” reminding us to always clean our hands.
